2019: A banner year for Connecting Food!

blockchain Jan 02, 2020

Over the past twelve months, the Connecting Food team has tripled (from 7 to 22 employees), and so has our number of clients.  In addition to our growing customer base in France, we also launched our blockchain platform in Italy and won tenders in several other European countries.

Let's take a look back at a few of the highlights from this fast-paced year!

January

Four of our team members attended the #CES show in Las Vegas, along with our partner #CEA, where they met, among others, Jean-Michel MIS, deputy of the Loire region and co-leader of the French parliament's #Blockchain Information Mission.

February

Our Co-Founder, Stefano Volpi, on stage for the Food Transparency round table

We participated in our very first #Salondelagriculture alongside the 25 other start-ups of La Ferme Digitale. We also contributed to the Food Transparency round table organised by the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

March

Team meeting in the Shake-up Factory

Three months into 2019 and our team was already up to 12.  We are starting to take up space at STATION F!

April

April brought the #ParisBlockchainWeek, and we were invited to the National Assembly to hear Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister of Economy, quote Connecting Food in his opening speech.

May

We launched the first-ever #organic #eggs traced and audited by our #blockchain platform, with our client Coop Italia. It was our 1st international deployment!

June

We proudly participated in #LFDay, the largest event dedicated solely to #AgTech and #FoodTech in Europe, sponsored by La Ferme Digitale.

July

We met Emmanuel Faber, Chairman & CEO of Danone, at the Evian Championship, alongside Antoine Pulcini (founder of Promus) and shared our vision for the future of 100% transparent food.

August

We traveled to the Hauts-de-France region to visit a French dairy farmer and participate in the filming of a TV report covering 'Via Lacta', our client Ingredia's blockchain-traced milk.

September

Coline Laurent & Jordi Galles, CEO of Europastry

We finished first in the call for projects launched by the Spanish industrial bakery giant: Europastry. The Baking The Future Challenge chose Connecting Food as the most innovative solution among more than 100 candidates, selecting us to carry out a project with the group in Spain.

October

October brought the official launch of milk certified by the #LiveAudit module of our blockchain platform. We organized a joint press conference with our client Ingredia to present 'Prospérité', the first digitally certified milk brand, to the public.

November

We announced the first #duck #blockchain with our customer Terres Du Sud. Their Delmond l'Originel OGM-free duck breast is the first duck product 100% traced and audited by our blockchain platform, and will be available in-stores in spring 2020.

December

At the Food Ingredients Europe show, we announced the launch of the first traced and certified dairy proteins with our client Ingredia.  We also brought 3 new team members on board, and as of December 31st, we are a brigade of 22 "foodies" dedicated to making food more transparent for all!

A heartfelt thank you to all of our customers, partners and accelerators who placed their trust in us in 2019. We are just getting started and we have some great surprises in the works for 2020 - come join us in making it the year of food transparency!
